Flat name transfer

(Querist) 05 April 2015 This query is : Resolved
I am the only son of my parents who own a flat in Pune.
The flat is in the name of my parents and I am not a legally a joint owner of this flat. My father has not prepared a will till now. I have following questions -
a) If my father prepares a will for transfer of ownership of this flat to my name after his death and my mother death, will this attract any stamp duty/registration to have the flat transferred to my name.
b) How can my name be added as owner to this flat before death of my parents?

Please advice.

Thanks

1. Will does not attract any stamp duty at any place of India.
2. If they gift their share in flat to you by way of registered deed of gift then only you become its sole owner and name would be recorded.

If you are their only son, then why are you so hurry? Try to concentrate crating assets on your own strength.

Transfer on the basis of will does not attract stamp fee.

Your parents may request the society to add your name, fulfill formalities as per bye laws.
