Name of defendant is absent in the suit

(Querist) 13 December 2013 This query is : Resolved 
What defense does a defendant have if his name is not mentioned in the suit along with the other defendans? Does it mean that if he should be struck off under order 1 rule 10(2) of cpc?
Also what if legal notice was sent only to one director not all?
Finally what if there were no transactions which took place between the plaintiff and the defendant?
