Right to infromation Act extends to the judges also

Whether Judges of the Court in our country are bound by the provisions under this Act ( RTI ,2005 ? Whether they can be asked some questions about their property and assets and other Than related to the property etc.Process of appointment with regard to judge if there appears a suspicion or some thing else. Does this act not contempt of court ?

Dear Mr.Suresh Mishra,

You question is related to an issue which has been hotly discussed and analysed in the media throughtout the country recently. It is a known fact the the apex court was ultimately compelled to volunteer for disclosure of assets of the SC judges and some of the High Courts have also followed suit. RTI covers Judges and High Courts also and there is no question of any contempt of court.

Though in principal all judges are covered under RTI Act as held by CIC recently followed by Delhi High Court but practically it has not been implemented. Let us see further development in the matter within a short period. Various people are waiting to see it impelmented in its true spirit.
