Defination Self Acquired property

whether a property owned by a son from his father under a Will is to be considered as self acquired proeprty?

Normally YES, unless the WILL imposes any other conditions e.g. that the property should be treated as 'ancestral' etc.

Once a property devolves under a will it can not be characterise as an ancestral property.

Self acquired property is any property purchased by an individual from his resources or any property he acquired as a part of division of any Ancestral/Copacenary property or acquired as a legal heir or by any Testamentary document such as 'Will' etc.
