This query is : Resolved
The person due to old age is not able to see. Does the person still need to sign documents or can thumb impression be used? The person is not illiterate and can sign but is not able to see how he is signing. Pl advice.

The contents of the document can be explained and thumb impression can be affixed duly witnessed by two persons and attested by a Class I Gazetted officer. This legally amounts to execution of documents

If the executant of a document suffers from physical disability then he could indeed put impression which is to be identified by at least one person.

In addition to above you can mention the condition in which he is not signing and putting his thumb impression.

Thank you gentlemen for your feedback.
It seems simpler that the person signs than put thumb impression!
Although the person cannot see he can still sign but has to be guided where to sign. Is that permissible? Can a technically blind person sign?
