Looking for a dedicated honest Lawyer!

(Querist) 24 October 2010 This query is : Resolved
Hi, I am residing in Malaysia and my other half is from India but would be joining me soon here. We are looking for a dedicated lawyer to give us tips and advices on how to progressively defend ourselves against a possibly 498A FIR. Pls contact me here with ur brief introductory. We have a reasonable budget but we are not rich. We want a genuinely honest lawyer not someone who wants to take advantage by making money.

Thanks heaps!

Dear rita. First you come to india.. Then you may appoint your advocate as your wish. In india lot of dedicating, and honest advocates.. How can an advocate say that, am dedicating and honest in my profession. Its wil be like a self advertisement know..
Arun Kumar Bhagat (Expert) 24 October 2010
Lawyers are barred from making advertisement as per Advocates Act. So do you want to see cancellation of Practice License of Indian Lawyers. NO body has barometer to measure the honesty of another person. Every lawyer is honest unless you give certifacte otherwise.

As per the provisions of the Advocates Act,1961,soliciting work and advertising for work are expressly prohibited. Any advocate indulging in such practices would be guilty of professional misconduct and would be subjected to serious penal action by the Bar Council of India. Therefore you have to meet some advocates of your choice, discuss with them and draw a conclusion as to their professional ability and integrity and choose a person from among them. But your calling for the bio data like details from advocates as if you are calling them for interview for selection is not proper and fair,in my humble opinion. I stating so only with the honest intention of upholding the dignity of our noble profession and I have not intended any offence to you in particular.

Hi All,

Understand your point. My bad! I probably have come across very bad lawyers in the past.

Cheers!

Before looking out for advocates, Ritaji can pose queries in this section for the experts to honestly participate and work out legal solutions shedding away from her notional pretext as to adding adjectives to the profession conduct or misconduct by lawyers.

Dear Querist,

Your general query reflects apprehension which is something that you need to have a check & balance in branding an advocate. Its your call that you have to take.

As suggested by Mr. P. Loganathan, it is advisable if you post your query which may be responded to by forum members based on which you may then & thereafter select your lawyers to defend your case.

Since, its 498A matter, you may peruse good-lawyers list posted on 498A forum which you may also take note of.

However, its suggested if you post query and wait for the answeres by the members of furum.

Trust this would suffice.

Thanks & regards.

It so usually happens that when clients approach the courts for justice - they expect the same without a price which is understandable.
But the system is such that clients have to engage lawyers and lawyers have to fend for themselves. So, certainly they have to be prepared to pay a price (irrespective of whether they fight for justice or otherwise).
So, it is better to understand the system.
