Hsbc credit card in 2007

Hi Experts,
I had a HSBC credit card in 2007 with limit of 93000. My friend used it and betrayed me. However, he paid minimum dues for close to 5 to 6 months in 2010. In 2010 i received calls from one of recovery agency to pay 16000.00 to make the card closed properly. Still i sm not in good financial position to pay it and left it as it. Now i prefer to close it properly. I tried to reach HSBC bank. They advised to go in person to branch. Also in Experian report it was marked as closed with outstanding of 93K. How to close this credit card properly with amicable payment.
