Income Tax

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 25 June 2010 This query is : Resolved
heard that Income tax case can be filed on in-laws based on the dowry figure given in FIR by the wife?

Is this really workable if yes how do we proceed & how much time it would take IT dept to take action?

FIR cannot be a conclusive proof to justify any income. Moreover dowry is stri dhan of the married woman.

There is no concept of filing an Income Tax Case.

you can only make a complaint with the IT department which may investigate the matter depending upon the details provided in complaint and its varacity. Further the year to which such dowry amount has been claimed to be given is also important.

If it is a complaint worth investigation, the department takes action on the same. However there is no specific time limit.
