Is the Right to Information Act,2005 is applicable on private institutions like coaching centres or nursing homes?

Yes if there is any control over them of any govt. authority.

No. Because those institutions do not get any grants in aid from State hence they do not come within the perview of RTI Act.

Information can be gathered only from the Public Authority which is defined U/s 2(h)of the RTI Act, as any Institution organisation including NGO owned, controlled, financed fully or partly by the Central or state Govt.

If the coaching and nursing home not controlled or financed by the Govt.then they are not liable to disclose the information.
