Name mismatch in multiple documents

(Querist) 01 April 2020 This query is : Resolved
I have a query regarding some name issues in my educational documents and identity cards. Please go through the following points carefully:-
1. My name is mentioned as Kushal Chakrabarthi in my 10th marksheet whereas it is correctly mentioned as Kushal Chakrabarti in any of my higher education document or id card. Same is the case with my mother's name being mentioned as Bela Chakrabarthi in 10th marksheet and Bela Chakrabarti in the rest. Correct name is Bela Chakrabarti.
2. My father's name is mentioned as P K Chakrabarthi in 10th marksheet and Pravat Kr. Chakrabarti in higher educational documents and Pravat Kumar Chakrabarti in I'd cards such as aadhar and pan card. Correct name is Pravat Kumar Chakrabarti.

My query is that if I have to get the name issues corrected by making a gazette notification after getting a making an affidavit and newspaper ads then can all the issues be included in one affidavit, one ad and one gazette notification or would I need to do multiple for the different names and issues involved? I want to apply for some government jobs like UPSC and ssc and want to know the correct procedure to get this issue resolved. Also I completed class 10th in 2011 from cbse board so making corrections in 10th marksheet is possible or not?

One Affidavit with one Ad and Gazette notification is sufficient. But you should be careful during the process.

Thanks for your reply. Also the difference of Pravat Kumar Chakrabarti and Pravat Kr. Chakrabarti needs to be rectified or is that not a problem?

You already know the procedure to get the necessary changes as mentioned by you in your query. One affidavit shall suffice.

Such discrepancies are quite common while writing vernacular names in English. The matter could be certified/clarified through an affidavit, as and when necessary.

Common problem, spelling may slightly differ when written by separate person.

May proceed by affidavit, gazette Notification, news paper publication.

Yes you can make one single affidavit, one single newspaper publication and one single government gazette publication for correcting all the errors in your name and can use the chosen name thereafter in all your future issues.

I did not find any thing wrong in the name of your father, which is abbreviated in some documents, whereas it is full name mentioned in others.
No need to fiddle with documents, it would be futile exercise, wastage of money and efforts.

Yes, there is no need for any gazette notification etc. If at all there is any this could be explained through an affidavit that both the names denote on and the same person.

Thanks for the reply. I want to use the name that is in the other marksheets and not the one in the 10th marksheet as that is incorrect. Can that be done without a gazette notification as any government institution asks for name according to that in the 10th Marksheet.
P. Venu (Expert) 03 April 2020
As to proper names, there is nothing as to that is correct, esp. when local names, which are basically vernacular usages, expressed in English.

Dear Sir,
I agree with the opinion of Experts
Kushal chakrabarti (Querist) 03 April 2020
I understand sir. But the matter is the spelling that I want to use is different from the one that is in the 10th marksheet however small a difference it is and if that can create any issues then wouldn't it be better to get the gazette notification done for the same?
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 03 April 2020
If want to remain prepared in case of any such problem, get the formality of affidavit , news paper publication, Gazette notification completed to remain on safe side in case of any problem. Keep proper record to be used in case of need.
P. Venu (Expert) 03 April 2020
You are not an Englishman. It makes no difference in your name, when read in vernacular, irrespective of whether it is written "Kushal Chakrabarthi" or "Kushal Chakrabarti". It is impossible to say that one is wrong and other is right. In fact, both are only approximate modes of writing the proper name in English; faults could be found with both the spellings. In the ordinary course of things, no prudent person would make an issue of such a trivial matter.

Your matriculation certificate can also be got corrected in consonance with the subsequent documents by adopting the same procedure as you yourself described.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 04 April 2020
Some boards provide facility for correction in marksheet / certificate with some limitation and by following procedure. You can approach through your school, from which you studied matriculation after knowing full procedure.
