What is affidavit and when it is filed before the court?

An affidavit is an affirmation of the deponent duly attested by competent authority in specified format.

An affidavit is affirmation oor oath or deposition made by the deponent to the competennt authority who are appointed by the ministry of law and juiciary.,or State or Central govts officers in Class I cadre are appointed as Gazetted Officers or ClassI judical Magistrates appointed for that purposes , the affidavit need to be attested or sworn before such officers before presenting in the court
