Purchase of anscestral sc/st land

my father is a farmer.we belongs to general merit caste. my father has purchased 10 cents of land which belongs to sc community.it is a ansestral land . is it permissible to purchase the sc land as per the law of india? my father has not taken any permssion from any government authority to purchase it. the land is in the state of karnataka

Unless agricultural laws of your state are different, then your father is liable to return the land and not entitle to get the price back (plus harassment by Tehsil office and police).

How is it possible for a farmer to be unaware of basic provisions of agrarian land. Apparently there are some more facts.

If that property was purchased by that SC seller, and now he is selling it to you, in this case you dont have to obtain permission from the Govt.

But, if that land was assigned to that SC seller by the Govt, you have to obtain permission from the Govt. So, check the parent documents.

Even in my opinion, the land that belonged to a person of SC Community can be purchased by other community people provided that land was not a DC land or land assigned by the government at free of cost to the said community people exclusively.
