Any individual can contest or fight for his own case.

Get to know the filing procedures(clerical) like format etc in particular court. The petitions you make will be labeled as made by petitioner in person. You may fail in first attempts; never mind. Expert Mr. Barman has given you clearance; follow it

1. ONLY the prosecution (complainant) .OR. trial magistrate /judge, may "Add /Delete /Modify" charges, after recording proper reasons /justifications, ELSE the accused can exercise Perjury options u/s 340 CrPC.

2. The "Add /Delete /Modify" charges, require appropriate expertise in reasoning's & arguments and quoting citations, which typically a non-law-person, is literally incapable of.

still better to engage an advocate to fight the case.
