Reg: acquisition of ancestral property for a grand-daughter married before 1989.

(Querist) 13 March 2013 This query is : Resolved

Hi, I need some clarification regarding Acquisition of ancestral property for a grand daughter married before 1989.

My father died last year, and all his sisters(aunty's) are asking for equal share in the ancestral property ( which belongs to their grandfather's).

Two of them were married before 1989. While reading through some of the blogs have found that
"Provided that nothing contained in this sub-section shall apply to a daughter married before the commencement of the Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act, 2004."
This law was passed by the state in Tamil Nadu year 1989 for giving equal rights in the ancestral property.

Hence clarify me that whether they have share or not in the ancestral property.

Those daughters are duly entitled to inherit equal share of the property with your father.
