Buying government gifted lands

Hi...
Government of Karnataka had gifted some lands to SC/STs, poor people on 1970. According to rules they shouldn't sell the property till 1990. After that some transactions taken place. IS it safe to buy those properties now?

As the retaining period has already expired so there is no legal hurdle to deal in such property.

I agree. As the retention period is over there should not be any legal objection to purchase such land. But be sure that the gift deed does not contain any restrictive provisions such as prior permission of collector etc.at the time of transfer after the prescribed period.
