Deepak Nair (Expert) 23 January 2012
In many government departments, producing the certified copy of the marriage certificate is considered as a valid proof for change of surname of ladies after marriage.

In any case, you can apply to the gazette office of your state government for publishing the change of name in the official gazette of the government. Once it is published in the government, you can use the same universally.

Execute AFFIDAVIT for change of Name.
Publish in Govt. Gazette.
Apply to Employer with Wedding card and Marriage Certificate.

This is more that enough.

I have nothing more to add in the advice of the experts as expressed above.

No procedure is needed except to mention the new surname in the marriage certificate.

After registration of marriage her new surname can be used in every document for which the the MC is enough proof.

Partially agreeing with Mr Nair I would add that in Govt service female employee need not even submit certificate of marriage. Her intimation on plian paper is sufficient to change surname due to marriage or divorce.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 23 January 2012
Her information regarding the marriage is sufficient. she need not change her surname.
