Bribing BMC and Police

We have a shop on Pagdi system in a chawl, due to increase in the height of the road; the roof of the shop has come down close to 6 feet from the ground. We have no option but to increase the height of the roof to 12 feet from the ground, but all the contractors I have contacted say that we will have to spend close to rupees 1 lakh in bribing the BMC, police, and the complainers. Please suggest because I am shocked to hear this lawlessness. Can’t I go ahead without bribing?

you can approach concern department directly and take permission, thereafter give to builder to build

I have already submitted the photographs of the shop and an application in the BMC office. But I have been hinted that nothing will move ahead untill I Pay to the corporator and BMC officials and even after that I will have to pay to the police as per their demand while the work is on. Can I approach the court and get the order for repairs? How long will it take?

Let the BMC refuse your application. Take care that the application submitted by you is in full compliance of all the requirements. If the application is pending since long, file RTI application to enquire what decision is taken on your application and if no decision is taken yet, the reasons for delay. You need not pay anything to anyone. Also issue a notice to BMC for raising the height of the road and causing danger to you and your property and also for permission to raise height of your house. Let them reply. Then go to HC in Writ.
