Custody is ordered by Hon'ble Court that is called Judicial custody.

custody is held by police that is called police custody.

I would like to differ slightly from Mr. Sanjeev. Both the custodies are ordered by the court. Police doesnt have power to detain a person for more than 24 hours without orders of the court. While accused remains in the custody of police for the purpose of interrogation. It is normally not more than 15 days unless any special law provides for more. While the accused remains remains in the custody of magistrate and ultimately sent to jail in the case of judicial custody. I think the query is repeated one.
