Refusal to pay arrears to ex-employee

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 19 May 2011 This query is : Resolved
Please advise whether even a senior manager can approach the labour court for relief when his past employer company has refused to pay arrears of salary to him after he has resigned though same were committed to him as part of his salary in writing when he was in employment ?
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 19 May 2011
All depends upon the nature of the work. Administrative managers can not go to the labour court.

The position was VP (general management) in-charge of operations in a region. Please also tell the best recourse since civil case can drag on for years. Thanks

Only course is suit for recovery of arrears in a civil court.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 20 May 2011
You can go for a civil case for recovery of salary arrears.
Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 21 May 2011
But I understand that the civil case may cost a lot (lawyers fee + court fee) as well as take some years ?
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 21 May 2011
It is true, if you want you can file a case or leave it.
