Cheque stolen and en cashed

My father in law lost a cheque and the said person has withdrawn an amount of Rs 1 lakh.

he has the cheque number and the name of the person who has withdrawn the money.

my father in laws bank is in Kinnaur, HP while the cheque was en cashed in SBI, Delhi.

please advise the course of action available with us.

File a case of theft and criminal misappropriation of property in either of the places.

did your father on losing cheque file any police complaint . ? was the blank cheque signed by your father in law ? or was his signature forged?

Even Supreme court in cheque cases has not believed such stories and and converted acquittal by HIGH COURT in conviction.

The reasoning is simple why only signed blank cheque was maintained at first place and how it is that only one leaf is lost.
