Dear Experts
For presenting a memo on some matter, should one place a stamp for some value on it? If so of what value? Should it be given to the other party also or only to the presiding officer of the court? would appreciate if experts can clarify. Many thanks and regards

Memo is required to be filed before the court only which do not require any stamp duty thereon.

Thank you Makkad sir and Barman sir
Ajay Sir,
I mean by the memo same as Makkad sir and Barman sir have meant.I do not know the the technical difference between memo and application, but I am aware that memo is a very effective way of putting the points of urgent concern across in a written form,to put the concerns expressed in oral form( which can be forgotten in the subsequent hearings) on record.

You need not affix stamp for memo.
What ever document you file in the court you have to give a copy to the other side.

If you mean Application, you have to fix Rs. 5 Court Fees.
If you Keep it as a Document , to be read as Evidence in Proceeding, You have to Apply to produce it with a List of Document, affixing Rs. 5 Court Fees, and a copy to Op Party.
I talk abt Mah State.
As ur query could not becunderstood, and beyond my imagination, whatever I could gather , I replied. One had to confirm, what type of Memo??

Shroff sir, in Hindi it is called Purusi/Purasi. It is widely used to bring some issues to the attention of the court, or to clarify. It is like placing very important oral statement during the proceedings on record. Say if hon'able judge instructs the opposite party to do something which the party ignores, it can be brought to the attention of the court through Purasis. If I am not correct, please experts point it out to me.
