i am a resident of maharashtra . my wife has ancestral farm land in andhra pradesh. i being her husband; can i purchase farm land in maharashtra.

it means ,mr sudharsan asked can he buy agri land on behlf of her, yes but it should be in her name

You should find out from the Govt.whether agriculturist of another State can buy agricultural land in your State.Daughter of an agriculturist,even if married to non-agriculturist,remains agriculturist.For tobe sure,make an agreement to purchase of agr.land,then apply to the Revenue Authority,alongwith the documents of her father having agricultural land in another State and if sanction is given you may purchase the land.

Only your wife can purchase agricultural land and not you as you are not a farmer.

But information by author is also correct.Then Mr.V R shroff is from mumbai!!
Then it is quite confusing for me too.What is the law in this regard in the state of Maharashtra?????

In Maharashtra only agriculturist can purchase the agricultural land. If wife of author is having an agricultural land in andhra, it do not give right in favour of author but his wife can purchase.

Only wife can purchase an agricultural land in her name vide sec 63 1A only agriculturist by profession can purchsa the agricultural land for agricultural purpose ,but for bonafied industrial purpose you can buy agri.l and and put it for ind. Purpose .
