Dear Sir,
We are from a Gujarati (Hindu - Jain) family. My elder brothers' daughter was in a friendship relationship with one muslim boy since 2005. Afterwards they loved each other. Now they want to marry. However, considering the background of both family, none of my family member has agreed to this marriage. This marry may spoil the life of a girl sooner or later. They both are working in one public limited listed software company. In spite of our opposition, they remained sticked with their decision which will cost a huge social damages to us.
Please advise, is there any legal way to prevent this marriage and to safeguard our family interest ?

you can protect your daughter legally . insis that marriage take place under Special marriage act so that your daughter wont have to change her religion .
just request your son in law not to insit that your daughter changes her religion .

It is up to the couple to decide in what manner they should marry. When you have no right to stop their marriage you cannot stop converting also.Trying to stop converting in no way ensures you are giving protection to her.If the bride is ready she can get converted as muslim or bridegroom wishes he can turn hindu and if they both wishes they can go for special marriage. You can only give options and not decisions and it is no way connected to any protection.

if daughter converts to muslim and gets married her hsuband can divorce her easily . he can marry again without divorcing his first wife .
whereas if marriage takes place under special marriage act he would have to divorce his first wife before remarrying again .
hence i suggested get married under special marriage act . dont convert

Existence of married life is purely in the hands of god and nothing to be alarmed by muslim marriage. She could very well convert as muslim if she wishes so and you only Bless her in a positive way

Legally the marriage can not be stopped. Inter religion marriage is possible under Special Marriage act without changing the religion.
