What is aadhaar card ?

Is it necessary to hold?

If yes? what is the procedure to own it or get it prepared?

It is necessary. You have fill an application provided by aadhar centres. then you have to produce along with residential proof like bank pass book, ration card etc., After verifying it your details will be entered and your foto will be taken.

Its not necessary. If you wish to hold it mean you may. Otherwise its not necessary..

Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will issue for all residents in India

go to nearest centre .take the application form fill in details .

you will need identity proof and proof of residence . namely ration card , passport , electricity billetc.

you have to go with your entire family have iris scan done , fingerprints taken and photographs .

Dear laxmanram, today they are issuing that card at free of cost. But they are cheating us.. Cheating mean they are doing it with a profit intention only. In future out nation going to issue national id card to all indians.. It may be after two years. At that time our government call for the tender for the national identity card. With this aadhaar card experience they will get that contract. So now they are doing trial. They going to earn multi crores. Thats it.

It is no doubt now optional, but it will be useful to a citizen in future. Therefore, it is advantageous to have one.
