If wife and her family members are spreading rumors about me and my family members then what rights does senior citizens of my family have?

Rumours dont have force. But sometimes things have to be clarified otherwise they are taken to be true.

Depending upon the seriousness of the rumours decide what to do. Ignore the not so serious things and clarify the ones that needs clarification. If it is seriously defamatory then, consult a local lawyer to take further action.

If rumors are against your fame then definitely you can go for defamation but there are certain conditions for initiation of such action. Engage a local lawyer for this purpose.
