You should take the consent of the lawyer who was first appointed, the fees is no criterion.

It is a question of courtesy or propriety than legality of it.
If you would do so you would cause harm to smooth handling of your own case.

you have to inform your advocate on record in this regard . he may with draw his appearance if you appoint another lawyer .

there is no requirement of any permission, however, you should inform engaged advocate.

While giving Vakalatnama to a new Advocate, you have to take No objection from the earlier Advocate. Earlier Advocate will give his NOC in the Vakalatnama itself, which you will be given to a new Advocate.
If you do not withdraw your Vakalatnama given to your earlier lawyer, and if NOC from the earlier Advocate is not obtained, then both - the earlier and new Advocates - will put up appearance before the Court and it will add up to the confusion.
While the earlier Advocate will not hold back his NOC in case any fee is outstanding, yet he can sue the client for recovery of unpaid fees. (Normally, self-respecting Lawyers do not sue the clients.)

There are So Many Cases where the Clients Do Not Honour Their Commitments to the Advocates Does it Mean that Advocates Doesn't Have Self Respect When they Seek Remedy For the Commitments They Deserve. The above Reply is an Insult to the Advocate Community.

Even without NOC of past lawyer new advocate can be engaged , more so, when both set of lawyers is desired to be engaged by client.

I agree with expert advise of Mr. Devajyoti Barman.
New counsel can be engaged even without NOC from earlier, however, with the consent of earlier both can persue/proceed the case.

Agreed with the experts opinion that both sets of advocates can be engaged but better to avoid it in the wake of confusion.
