Insurance claim on lost car

(Querist) 12 November 2012 This query is : Resolved
My friend had car which was registered in the state of Gujarat later he was transferred to Hyderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh (A.P). He did not take any NOC/permission from RTO in Gujarat or A.P.

One night his car was stolen from the open parking near his house.

What should he do now to get his insurance claim? He is worried that insurance company will not give his claim because he was using the car in AP? Please help.

I don't know if lodge the FIR, I will ask him as per the advice of experts.

Can police refuse to register the complain because no NOC from RTO?
Somebody telling that he will have to pay road tax to RTO before lodge FIR?

"Somebody telling that he will have to pay road tax to RTO before lodge FIR"

then keep on hearing the "somebody" why come on this forum
Gaurav Agarwal (Querist) 13 November 2012
Thanks Mr. Sudhir. What I understood is you trying to me and my friend not to listen to "somebody" and lodge the complain and "somebody" is giving us wrong information.
Kiran Kumar (Expert) 16 November 2012
there are certain terms and conditions of the policy.

in case of theft, some companies have made a clause that the theft be reported to police immediately and claim be stalked before the company within 48 hours.

pls check for the rules in your case.
JANAK RAJ VATSA (Expert) 16 November 2012
lodge the fir with the police immediately and inform your insurer. no rto noc required for using the car in another state. check the terms and conditions of your policy

Thanks all the experts for the advice. Mr. Sudhir I really respect and appreciate this forum and really want to say my deep apologies if you felt bad about any of my comments.
