Use of commercial property for residence

Hi,
Is it possible to use commercial property for dual use, i.e. commercial property as well as residence. In our society shop owners have rented their shop and these people are using shop for commercial purpose as well as some part for residence with family. Is it legal or not

Using commercial property for dual purpose of residence and business is very much valid in the eyes of law. Whether commercial or residential, no illegal activity should take place. The property tax shall be levied as if it is a commercial property.
