Handing over original document

(Querist) 03 March 2013 This query is : Resolved
I have filed FIR almost two years back and now the IO is investigating the case. He requires the original documents for forensic report with of the accused. My query is that how can I handover the original document to IO (Police) and ask them for receipt / acknowledgement of the same. If I make an photostat of the original document and ask the IO to sign it for my records will that be valid. Please advice urgently.
Nadeem Qureshi (Expert) 03 March 2013
Yes
It is 100% valid and it is the duty of IO to give you a receipt of the same and also prepared a Fird(Fard)Memo of the documents.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 03 March 2013
You shall be duly granted the receipt against the original record you provide to police.
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 04 March 2013
Move a petition before the Magistrate and ask for its direction so that you may submit the document for necessary tests.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 04 March 2013
A complainant is expected to cooperate with the IO so there is no need to obtain permission from the court for the given matter.
B Singh (Querist) 07 March 2013
IO replies that they shall give me the attested photocopy of the document and keep the original with them. My query is will this attested photocopy from police be sufficient that I have handed over the original document to them as evidence
