Succession of property by adopted son

(Querist) 04 February 2013 This query is : Resolved
Mr.X and Mr.Y were brothers. Both of them had no children. So both of them independently adopted one boy each.
After this both the brothers Mr. X and Mr. Y died.
Both the adopted sons got married. The son adopted by Mr. X did not had any children and died leaving behind his wife and mother[ Mrs.X was also a widow by then ]. The property of Mr. X succeeded by this adopted son was under enjoyment by his widowed mother Mrs.X and wife (daughter in law of Mr. X.)

Now my query is whether after death of both of them [the wife and daughter in law of Mr.X ] will the adopted son of Mr.Y has any right to claim the property, on the basis the property belonged to the brother of his adopted father. I also understand that the brother of the widowed daughter in law of Mr. X has sold the property. Is the sale valid.

These things cannot be answered in a vaccum and without a chronology, because that makes all the difference and succession has to be examined at each stage.
