(Querist) 19 August 2009 This query is : Resolved
Is it possible to get details of a loan/ credit card accounted in a Private bank under Right to Information Act?
Kiran Kumar (Expert) 19 August 2009
No, private banks or institutions are not covered under RTI Act, however you can summon, with the permission of court, their record during civil suit if necessary as according the facts of the case.

The problem is :

' A ' bought a household article using his credit card of a nationalized bank. He cancelled the same for non - delivery of the same within time.
The dealer is using a Private bank account, has requested the bank and has reverted the same.

Now the Nationalized bank asking "A" to pay the bill as it is outstanding.. but he was not able to get the details of the transaction reverted in the Private Bank.

You have to meet the Private Bank manager and sort out the issue by getting the details of revert back transaction or issue a legal notice to the bank regarding the issue.
