What about law against daughter in law

Sir,
i am living with my brother who is married and father , mother ,sister(unmarried), daughter of sister(unmarried) . I am living with 7 persons all together. My father is retired due to cancer problems in his throat.
Now, my brother in law threathening my father to commit sucide if my father will not separate her together with his husband and child. She is also telling that she will not give milkfeed to her child if we will not do what she want to do?
We have filed police complaint against her.
Sir , in such a case can we sue her as harrasement and mental tornamenting to my father.
Please give full details regarding which law to be applied in such cases

Since your sister in law wants to in separation its clear shows that alternative remedy is there.. You can't sue against her.. Threatening as wil commit suicide can't be reason for criminal consequences. I mean without preparation to commit suicide the mensria alone can't be maintenable.

And one more thing both of your side failed to realise the principle of joint family. You can't bind any one by compelsion. If you lodge a complaint mean automatically she will get out from your house with her husband.. So however the joint family status going to break. So better without breaking the relationship you may arrange to separation of their life.

You can proceed under the following sections of I.P.C.


Section 384. Punishment for extortion


Whoever commits extortion shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine or with both.

384. Punishment for extortion Whoever commits extortion shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.

504. Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace Whoever intentionally insults, and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace, or to commit any other. offence, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

506. Punishment for criminal intimidation Whoever commits, the offence of criminal intimidation shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both; If threat be to cause death or grievous hurt, etc- and if the threat be to cause death or grievous hurt, or to cause the destruction of any property by fire, or to cause an offence punishable with death or 152[imprisonment for life], or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, or to impute, unchastity to a woman, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or With fine, or with both.
