Fine or imprisment for default u/s 420

What is the punishment if cheating under 420 is proved. If any crime is done and false works is make by a layman what will be the punishment for cheating to Government.Is there any excuse or Financial penlalties instead of going to the Jail.

Section 420 IPC only provides punishment for cheating which is 7 years maximum and fine.

there is no excuse and no finencial penlalties instead of going to the Jail if there is a judgement to covict an accused by a compitent Court U/S- 420 IPC.

Section 420 IPC is a compoundable offence with permission of the Court in view of Section 320 Cr.P.C. SO you file petition to compound in court to escape from punishment

To compound a case is the right of Complainant only. Accused has no power to file compounding application.
