I am staying in a 2 BHK flat and have kept a PG in one of my Rooms. The society has asked me to pay an additional Rs. 500/- towards renting out charges. If the whole flat is given on rent then it is justified. But here I am staying in the flat and i have just given a room as Paying Guest. I have heard that there is a judgement where no extra charges have to be paid when the owner himself is residing in the flat and has kept a PG. It is requested to provide me some guidelines on the issue and if possible the details of any such judgement.

These things are normally not available in bye-laws. Bye-laws normally contain the process of conduct of business and the membership conditions and conduct to be observed by them. However, if bye-laws contain such a provision you will have to abide by that. Otherwise, you may ask the secretary of the society, if the society has got any resolution passed to that effect in any of the AGMs.
