raise an rti query covering your areas of interest to nearby post office.

Dear Mr. Gurumurthy,
Instead of beating around the bush, and abusing and misusing the facility of RTI which is otherwise a powerful tool in the hands of the public, it would be better if you can specify what you want to know from the Post Office. After knowing that, any one of the experts would be in a position to say whether such an information would be avilable with the Post Office or not.

i have sent letters [thru speed post] to my wife for reunion, who went to see her parents willingly and did not return back, these leters were posted pre-498a and post-498a for reunion, later RCR was also filed.

Later they[in-laws] calimed "i did not bother to communicate to wife in any manner"

1). To file RTI, i would like to know what are the public documents avaialable in Post Office and what entries are made in it.

For this instead of an rti,you can make a complaint to the post office, that the said communication has not reached the party.

Post office in turn will give you a delivery report in case delivered.

Dear Guru Murthy,

There are hundreds of registers, diaries and forms prescribed for use in the Post Offices for different purposes and records. So, unless you specify which type of registers for what purpose you desire to know, you won't be able to get the solution to your problem.

Yes, as rightly advised by Mr. Mahendrakumar, write to the Post Office where you posted the letters through speed post, to give a certificate of delivery. THUS, IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO FIRST INDICATE YOUR REAL PROBLEM, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO BEAT AROUND THE BUSH AND WANTING TO KNOW THE WHOLE LOT OF UNNECESSARY THINGS.

Dear Member,

I mentioned my real problem in post 4.

To frame the RTI question, i have asked the query in this forum, assuming that they may be of some help by seniors who had already utilized RTI from Post Office.

The second thing is to know in which book/dairy/register the entires would be made,in case of speed post/regd post/Under certificate of Posting ..etc.,

So that i can directly seek that particular information from the Post Office.

However, well said by the forum members, and thanks for your valuable replies.

why do you want to use rti for this simple matter?

you can get a delivery/non delivery report of the article sent by you by speed post.

Usually post offices keep such records on ly for 6 months.

so if it is already not late, hurry up with that.
