Family property

(Querist) 08 November 2010 This query is : Resolved
My father got his ancestral land from his mother. He asked my four brothers and sister for share but no one was willing to have that land. At last my father transferred the land in my name. Now my second brother is asking for his share. What should I do and what the law says. What if other brothers and sister asks for their share at later stage.

What your father got from his mother is his personal property. He has every right to dispose of the same in the manner that he likes. If he had given / transferred the said property in your name, no other person (including any of your brothers / sisters) can neither object nor claim any share in it at any point of time.
Raja (Expert) 08 November 2010
Since it is transfered, no one has any legal right to claim.

When the property got from the mother it becomes is absolute property. So transfer is valid, no one can claim the share.
