Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 24 December 2010 This query is : Resolved
Hello

Dear Sir/Madam,

Lost my Matriculation and 12th standard mark sheet and certificates, when I was traveling. Few of my knowns suggested me to give advertisements in newspaper and few suggests to give FIR.

I'm confused what to do, Kindly suggest me the correct process, regarding the same.

Thanks and sincere regards...

You have to do both and then apply for duplicate copies.

There is nothing to be confused. If you want to get back original-------advertisement.
If you want duplicate copy--- Register an FIR.
G. ARAVINTHAN (Expert) 24 December 2010
yes. first you need to file complaint and get FIR registered.
Then only publication can be made in news papers.
Police will issue a non-traceable certificate in case of the documents.
Then you can approach concerned offices for getting duplicate of marksheets

First go to Regional Office CBSE/ ICE then simply put the papers of 10/12 class, if this is your first chance of loosing them, then no need of FIR or Notice and within one month the certificates will be delivered to you.

If you are loosing for second or subsequent time then then you have to lodge FIR under 155 CrPC and then approach the Regional Office to obtain the certificates.
