I joined duty as Multi Tasking staff in july, 2014. My education i.e. M.sc. in Geology was completed by 2011. Since then i tried in various exams and interviews. Got the MTS post through SSC for which eligibility is 10th class. I joined but didnot stop my trails for higher posts in my relevant subject, i.e. Geology. Got Gate 2016; upsc asst.geologist written cleared, but failed in interview. Am thinking of preparing for UPSC GSI more seriously. Thinking of taking leave of 1 year or 1 and a 1/2 year. Can i get the leave officially? If not if i take the leave unauthorised, what will be the consequences?

Besides your earned leave on full pay and/or half pay you can get maximum of 6 months leave without pay, if got officially sanctioned prior to proceeding on leave. Otherwise, there is no such type of leave that may be called unathorised leave, if you absent from duty. That is treated as unauthorised absence and indiscipline leading to disciplinary action with ultimate dismissal or removal from service.
That stgma, if dismissed from service, may further impair you from entering in to Government service, what to say of fulfilling your dream through UPSC.

Apply for lave under proper acknowledgment and proceed on leave after its sanction.
Appear in exams with due intimation to the authority in your deptt., and persue for permission by deptt.
Download the leave Rules, and go thru these carefully.

Sir i repeated the main theme of the question so as to be more clear. The previous question was not clear, and raised some misunderstanding. Thanks to everyone for answering my query, i hope and i pray to god that i take a step where i would succeed and in time do service and charity to the nation as you all are doing now. Thanks to all. Pranam Rajkumar ji, what i am really lacking now is inspiration. By observing the above responses(yours and others) You are one(inspiration) to many. Please keep up the good work.
