Is there any chances that my case is being dropped or my file stuck somewhere?

(Querist) 22 January 2016 This query is : Resolved
2 years back I had quarrel with a person and we both assaulted each other. We both lodgesa police complaint and I was booked under IPC 294 and IPC 324 just like him.Later we decided to withdraw case against each other. But we were told that we can do so only during the 2nd hearing of the case. But even after 2 years I have not received my 1st hearing date. The case is yet to come to court. What to do?? I am a graduate and I am thinking of going abroad and believe that this case will become obstacle on the way of my career. We both are ready to withdraw the case so is there any other way to deal with the situation???

Visit the concern police station and inquire about the status of the case.

Yeah currently I am in place far away in another part of India from where I can't reach there in person. Also it was very long since I last spoke to my lawyer so now I can't able to get to him over phone(I am sure he changed his mobile number).I just want to know if there any other way to solve the issue. A friend of mine told me that his lawyer told that there is a good chance the case have been dropped but I have to just submit a letter at the police station from a lawyer and eventually the case will be over without any future problem???

The case must be pending in court for trial. Appear therein and compound the case with each other.
Engage a local lawyer who will do this.
Both of you need to appear on the scheduled date.
