Dear Respected Sir/madam, this is in respect to a credit card issue. I took a HDFC card and somehow I didn’t make the payments for last two years and they were unable to contact me as I changed numbers and house due to some personal reasons. Now they have tracked me. My principal amount is 75000 and after compounding the interest the total amount is now 1.5 lakh. I asked for a settlement and they offered me to pay 42000 which I refused and offered those 15000 which they decline. Now they have started calling me at my work place and harassing me. Now they are threatening me that they will contact my HR. I am willing to do the settlement. I have few questions Can they contact my HR as they are threatening? Can they send a legal notice to my work place and what will happen if I don’t accept it as in the guard refuses to accept?

You have used the money and avoided to pay it by changing nos. They can contact your HR however, legally they can not claim from there till they have got court order. They can send legal notice to any / all known address of yours. Legal action can be initiated even if you don't accept the notice.

as per your statement you agreed that 75000 is principle amount due , more over asper your query it seems you work in MNC . First more thing you breach your ethics and duty that still not repaid your real liability of the above amount. Either you approach the banker to solve the problem amicably or ready to face the consequences For interest you can request them for reduce or waiver , but not in principle. Explain your position and try to solve at your earliest

Well advised by expert Rajendra Goel. Why do you searchfor escaping from your responsibility to pack back the money which you have utilized that too when you have repaying capacity? Bank is generous in your case by offering lesser amount than the amount you utilized without charging interest. Better you go to the Bank and pay the amount agreed by them immediately.
