One person gave me a cheque for an amount of 170000/- in June,2008 and the same was bounced when I deposited the cheque in my account. Many times he promised to the amount and failed. On the assurance of that person to pay the amount due to me I didn't approached any court about cheque bounce. Shall I approached the court now? about the cheque bounce

If 3 years of issuance of cheque have not passed then you can file a civil suit for recovery against the issuer of cheuqe but beware that you must possess entire record of his lawful liability towards you.
Bhadra and Arvind! There are lot of citations which debar filing of FIR in case of bouncing of cheuqe as suggested by you.
