Allow me humbly to share my experience with all concerned. I had issued a cheque in favour of a service provider without the usual single dot "." forming an integral part of my signature. The cheque was returned and I had to pay a charge of Rs. 100/=
Better to be wiser before the event, if one could be!!!.

You mist have posted your query with the relevant facts otherwise we wouldn't have opined as above.

Banker is 100% right in its approach and beware in future if such type of mistake occurs and cheque get bounced on this ground then you shall be liable under section 138 NI Act as held recently by Hon'ble SC.

One is free to sign in as many styles as one wishes there is no legal bar.

As regards to a bank a/c the specimen given must resemble with one you sign on cheque for withdrawals, there no change can be made unless specimen it self is changed.

True if any cheque issued gets dishonored for mismatch of the signature then offence u/s 138 would be attracted.
