Police verification for govt job.

(Querist) 29 March 2013 This query is : Resolved
One of my friend got selected in West Bengal State Govt service but he is worried about police verification. Actually last year in holi, he was picked up by local police while they were consuming alcohol. They were kept in local police lock up for 3 hours and after giving 180/- they got bail. Would it effect his job? Please let me know.

If police has lodged a case then certainly your friend ought to have disclosed the case in his form itself.Since no conviction has been passed by court,it matters a little.

In case he was left free for some bribe without lodging any case then there is nothing to worry about.

Not to worry. Only conviction cases are reported.

you told bail means the case was registered or by giving money they let you go
R.K Nanda (Expert) 29 March 2013
no,it will not effect job.

Actually the term "bail" was used by the officer there. And while getting released, he has to sign and give thumb impression. He has to sign in a place where "signature of arrestee" was written on that paper.

any way no conviction has taken place even if the case was registered, hence no problem of a big nature.
Krishanu Majumder (Querist) 29 March 2013
Thank you sir for your advice. That means I can assure my friend that he would get the job? And onething, what details need to be given in that verification form?
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 29 March 2013
sorry to disagree. It is not mere conviction, rather just pendancy of case is the relevant factor to impede joining.

better check whether any case is registered or not.
Krishanu Majumder (Querist) 29 March 2013
When he got released, he was not told to appear in p.s. or court. After sign and thumb impression, they were just released.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 29 March 2013
that it the reason why I said that "better check whether any case is registered or not. "

Most likely case is not pending and one shall not be surprised if a case is pending and challan not given in court.
