Law practice in india

(Querist) 05 July 2014 This query is : Resolved
Before migrating to Canada, I was a practising Advocate, duly registered with Punjab & Haryana Bar Association. Presently I am a Canadian citizen. I am also granted the status of "Overseas Citizen of India" by Government of India, where I have every right in India, except that I can not vote and cannot buy agricultural land in India.

Now on my retirement I have decided to return to India, but would like to continue to be a Canadian citizen.

My query is whether I can practice as an Advocate in India as an Overseas citizen of India by renewing my status of an Advocate with Punjab & Haryana Bar Association as it was before my migrating to Canada?

Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 05 July 2014
Contact Bar Council of India.
Unless Canada is reciprocating country, you can not practise as an advocate being the citizen of Canada.
R.K Nanda (Expert) 05 July 2014
ask it from BCI.
ajay sethi (Expert) 05 July 2014
