A 20-year-old has been asked to leave home by their family and is receiving no financial assistance. While legally considered an adult and not entitled to maintenance, advice is sought on how to navigate housing, education, and support systems. The situation highlights the need for practical guidance and emotional support for young adults in such challenging circumstances.

Very rarely parents may send out their children from the house. In this case, he may not be a responsible person though he is a major. It is better to settle the issue with the help of their relatives and friends and other elders.

At the age of 20, your friend is not a child, he is an adult, hence he cannot claim any maintenance from his father as a right. This means he has to fend for himself without depending on anyone. He can claim rights over ancestral property alone, if there is any.

Yes, being an adult person, your friend is expected to maintain himself. The parents have no obligation under the law unless there are special circumstances.
