ancestral property

I am a bit confused with "ancestral property".
Some say property unpartitioned for four generation is ancestral property some say's my grandfather's property to me is ancestral property.Plz provide details.

ur granpa's property will be ancestral property to u....no criteria of four generations.

All property, not acquired by your father from his own earned income, would be classified as ancestral

To be classified as ancenstral property, it should be the property of father, father's father, father's father's father etc. If it is grand father's property it becomes ancestral only if it is father's father's property.
