Has any lawyer heard of the nativity certificate

(Querist) 30 April 2015 This query is : Resolved
I am a NRI and applied for the OVERSEAS CITIZENSHIP CARD and the FRRO office in Bombay advised me to get a nativity certificate(for those who cannot bring their old indian passport or birth certificate. I was born at home back in 1948 and there was no registration in those days. I downloaded the form from their website and it states that it has to be filled up by the district magistrate's office or collector's office. No one seem to have a clue in both offices. Please help and advise. can a NOTARY PUBLIC certify the nativity application form

You can talk to the FRRO officials as to whether the certificate of a Notarian will do.

Domicile certificate is issued in some states, please confirm whether they mean for it.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 04 May 2015
The nativity certificate will generally be issued by the Revenue Department based on the enquiry report by the Village Administrative officer and the Revenue Inspector. The procedure may slightly differ from one state to another in India. This is also called as domicile certificate in some states. The Tahsildar office or the collectorate will have an answer for this.

"It has to be filled in"? what do you mean? It has to be issued by those authorities. You can make an application in your native place in India to the revenue authorities for issue of nativity certificate and basing on the enquiries, they may issue. It is not so easy unless you have connections in your native place who can represent yourself for this work.
