our electricity consumption is low but we get higher bill amount which is sent by electricity board what we can do in our legal procceding and in what time is taken in the dispute settlement

Dear Puri,

I suggest you to find out the reason, why you are being charged higher, there can be many reasons like defective meter, wrong reading, status of consumer (Residential/commercial) etc...., Once you get to know the reason then suitable advise may be given, in case, it is due to defective meter, then, you may request the department to replace the meter and adjust the excess charged due to defective readings against your future bills, similarly if there is defeciency in service due to errorneous reading etc... bring it to the notice of the department, even if no action is taken, then file a consumer case and claim damages. usually a consumer case has to be settled within a period of six months

I agree with Mr Vishal

You have to give complaint to the Power Authorities stating that the Bill is not proportiante to your consumption.

The Staff of the Department will verify the same and come to conclusion and if you have any further grivence you can file consumer dispute

First u file complant before the concerned officer of the elecktriciy board, if they replied and solved problem, then there will be no problem for you. In case if they find that there is an excess billing they will adjust the taken excess bill in your future bills. In case if they failed to solve your problmes then u issue a notice and afterwards file a consumer case.
