Sales tax

if a firm doesnot file a sales tax return for 2 years(because of some genuine issues). is it possible for them to levy all the intersts and surcharges/late fees..?

where you do the business, normally if any one do the business then they need to register with commercial tax department, and file the monthly or annual return . if any one had exceeding limit of exemption limit of business and it would be find by department then the firm should pay the arriers with penalty with interest too

Your reasons must be reasonable, if so then you may go for condonation. However, without facts of the case it would be not proper to advise future course of action.
