Query Regarding Adoption

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 05 February 2011 This query is : Resolved
Mrs. X (alone lady) aged around 85 years wanted to adopt a daughter whose DOB is january 1996.
the girl is the daughter of X's Daughter.

tell me can mrs. X do so?
Arvind Singh Chauhan (Expert) 05 February 2011
She can't do so. Legally, A lady who already has a daughter can't adopt a daughter. Here X has already a daughter.

but the daughter is married and has no family income...so thats why she wanted to adopt for proper education and take care and she is also giving the whole family pension to her daughter for daily needs
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 05 February 2011
For that thing the girl need not be adopted. Mrs x can look after and make provision in future after her death for which adoption is required.
